Coding Manager (OP or IP)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Coding Manager to lead and oversee medical coding operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities, operational management experience, and a solid understanding of coding workflows, quality standards, and compliance requirements.

This role is responsible for managing coding teams, ensuring productivity and accuracy targets are met, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across coding operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee daily coding operations and team performance
• Lead, mentor, and support teams of medical coders
• Monitor coding productivity, quality, and compliance metrics
• Conduct coaching sessions, performance evaluations, and development planning
• Collaborate with training, quality, and operations teams to improve coding performance
• Ensure adherence to coding guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory standard
• Support workflow management, staffing, and operational planning
• Assist in coding audits, compliance initiatives, and process improvement activities
• Communicate coding updates, operational goals, and organizational changes effectively

Qualifications

• Any recognized coding certification required (CPC, CCS, COC, CIC, RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent)
• Experience managing teams of coders
• Strong knowledge of medical coding guidelines and compliance standards
• Proven leadership and people management experience
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills

• Experience in healthcare BPO, hospital, or physician coding operations
• Familiarity with coding quality review and auditing processes
• Strong analytical and reporting skills
• Experience driving productivity and operational improvement initiatives
