AU Intermediate Bookkeeper/BAS Agent

Role Overview

Reporting to the Client Services Partner or Pod Lead, the Client Accounts Lead manages assigned client portfolios and ensures bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll support, BAS preparation, and basic reporting are completed accurately and on time. This role supports the Client Services Lead and Client Accounts Assistant, helping maintain smooth pod workflow, quality control, compliance, and proactive client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Process Transactions: Code supplier invoices, receipts, payments, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payment batches, sales invoices, and debtor or retention management accurately.

• Reconcile with Care: Handle complex reconciliations including retention, clearing accounts, loan accounts, and other escalated reconciliation issues.

• Support Payroll & Superannuation: Complete employee onboarding support, process payroll updates, maintain non-sensitive employee records, process superannuation payments, and assist with end-of-financial-year payroll reconciliation.

• Deliver Month-End & BAS Support: Complete month-end bookkeeping tasks, prepare draft BAS schedules and reports for review, and run standard financial reports for clients.

• Guide the Team: Review Client Accounts Assistant work for accuracy, provide coaching and guidance, and escalate issues beyond scope to the Client Services Lead.

• Manage Systems & Workflow: Maintain workflow checklists, filing standards, system health checks, integrations, bank feeds, SOPs, and task status in Karbon, Xero, Hubdoc, Dext, or other systems.

• Support Internal Client Work: Understand client businesses, draft client emails for review, prepare information packs, collate client questions, and follow up on missing documents using templates.

• Maintain Quality Control: Use internal checklists, flag anomalies, follow escalation protocols, and maintain accuracy of at least 99% across assigned clients.

• Contribute to Team Growth: Complete training, document process improvements, shadow senior team members, participate in meetings, and build capability toward the Client Services Lead role.

Skills & Experience

• Experience using and maintaining workflow systems.

• Proficiency with accounting software and integrations.

• Intermediate technical bookkeeping skills.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• I ntermediate Microsoft Office skills.

• Professional presentation and a strong team-player mindset.

• Willingness to learn, strong attention to detail, and confident decision-making skills.

• Cert IV minimum qualification, BAS Agent registration, or at least 5 years of general bookkeeping experience (Good to Have)
