JOB DESCRIPTION FOR A BOOKKEEPER

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Remote Bookkeeper with 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in Australian bookkeeping, Xero, compliance, and end-to-end administration.

Working as an extension of our client's accounting team, your primary responsibility is to ensure client accounts are accurate, reconciliations are up to date daily, and files are meticulously prepared for the onshore accountants to review and lodge.

Your responsibilities as a Bookkeeper would be:

Australian Bookkeeping & Compliance
Payroll tax
Processing Payroll
ITR & CTRs (bonus)
Karbon needed
Other software is a plus – Service M8, Deputy + Employment Hero
Daily Bank Reconciliations & Transaction Matching
Match receipts, invoices, and purchase orders using automated data-capture tools such as Dext or Hubdoc.
Payroll Administration & Compliance (AU Specific)
Process weekly, fortnightly, or monthly payroll in Xero Payroll, ensuring accurate tracking of hours, awards, and leave entitlements.
Month-End Reporting
Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including payroll, superannuation, clearing accounts, and GST liabilities.
Prepare draft Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) for review by registered tax agents.
Produce monthly Profit and Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Reports for client-facing account managers.

Qualifications as a Bookkeeper would be:
2–4 years of hands-on Australian bookkeeping experience.
Strong experience using Xero.
Experience in Australian payroll and payroll tax.
Knowledge of Australian bookkeeping compliance.
Experience using Karbon.
Experience with ServiceM8, Deputy, and Employment Hero is an advantage.
Experience using Dext or Hubdoc is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Good written and verbal English communication skills.
