Production Supervisor

- Reads operation logbooks and obtains verbal or written information from outgoing supervisor on the status of operation in fermentation, distillation and dehydration, evaporation and cooling tower.
- Reports and receives instructions from the Production Manager with regard to the above-mentioned on-going processes and at the end of the shift, likewise relays important information to the incoming supervisor.
- Regularly interacts with the CO2 Plant Supervisor with regard to carbon dioxide production.
- Supervises the fermentation operation to ensure close monitoring of all required parameters such as yeast condition, pH, 0Bx/brix and temperature in order to attain optimum fermentation efficiency set by the superior.
- Supervises the distillation and dehydration processes to ascertain the smooth operation of all columns and that required parameters are met and maintained for optimum distillation efficiency set by superior.
- Checks balances of the materials being processed in order to attain desired over-all plant efficiency.
- Supervises the cooling tower operation and ensures that required cooling water quality and volume are met.
- Supervises the evaporator system operation to attain desired efficiency.
- Reports and discusses with superior matters that need urgent attention in order not to disrupt normal operation of the plant.
- Sees to the timely and proper collection and delivery of samples to the QA Department for analysis.
- Coordinates with the Utilities and Maintenance Department on any equipment repair work on breakdowns that may be required or may arise during the shift. Checks and ensures that all operating equipment, pumps and motors including spares are operational.
- Checks and ensures that the right amount of nutrients and other direct materials are dosed into the system.
- Ensures that personnel under supervision strictly adhere to the company’s health, safety, sanitation and good housekeeping procedures and programs at all times.
- Coordinates with the Logistics Department for ethanol production and transfer and material, equipment and service requisitions and with the Quality Assurance Department for product analysis.
- Recommends disciplinary action on erring personnel under the shift in accordance with the company rules and policies.
- Ensures that cleanliness and good housekeeping are maintained within the working area at all times.
- Checks and signs personnel time reports, assignments and provides relievers for absent staff.
- Documents operational concerns and other important activities during the shift in the Supervisors’ Logbook.
- Coordinates with the Cane Milling Shift Supervisor for the volume of cane syrup and QA for syrup quality that should be appropriate for loading to the tank. Ensures that delivered feed stocks are within the required quality and are unloaded properly.
- Preferably a Licensed Chemical or Mechanical Engineer
- 3-4 years supervisory experience preferably in a distillery or similar line of operation
