A Food Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while assisting with food preparation, presentation, and ensuring cleanliness in dining or kitchen areas. They ensure guests have a pleasant dining experience by maintaining quality service standards and addressing customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Greet customers warmly and guide them through menu options.
- Take and relay food and beverage orders accurately to the kitchen.
- Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Food Preparation and Presentation:
- Assist in basic food preparation tasks as needed.
- Ensure food is presented neatly and served at the appropriate temperature.
Cleanliness and Hygiene:
- Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, tables, and serving stations.
- Follow sanitation and food safety regulations in the kitchen and dining areas.
Cash Handling:
- Handle cash, card, or mobile transactions accurately when processing payments.
- Provide accurate change and issue receipts.
Stock Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and restock serving or dining areas as needed.
- Report shortages or requirements to the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not always required).
- Certification in food safety or handling (depending on local regulations).
Experience:
- Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or customer service is preferred but not always required (on-the-job training may be provided).
- Experience working in fast-paced environments is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions.
- Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team.
- Multitasking and time management abilities.
- Attention to detail, especially when it comes to cleanliness and food presentation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
- Physical strength to lift and carry trays, dishes, or other items (usually up to 25-50 lbs).
- Good manual dexterity for handling food and equipment.
