Overview

Our client is a licensed electrical contractor based in Mesquite, Texas, serving commercial, residential, and industrial clients across a broad range of work including panel upgrades, rewiring, new construction, site lighting, EV charger installation, and ongoing electrical maintenance. With a reputation built on fast response and accurate diagnosis, the company is seeking an Electrical Estimator to take the quoting process off the owner's plate, so the speed and quality he is known for holds as project volume continues to grow. This role starts at approximately 20 hours per week, with the expectation of growing from there.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented electrical estimator who can read project drawings, perform accurate takeoffs, and produce organized, professional quotes with confidence. Experience in commercial, residential, or industrial electrical work is strongly preferred. The company uses Procore Estimating, the takeoff and estimating tool inside the Procore platform. Procore Estimating is straightforward relative to most estimating software, training will be provided, and what matters most is sound estimating judgment rather than prior experience with that specific platform. Strong estimators who have not used it before are encouraged to apply. Above all, this person must be accountable: a reliable self-starter who takes ownership of their work and follows through without being chased.

Key Responsibilities

Takeoffs & Quantity Surveys

• Load project drawings and perform accurate electrical quantity takeoffs

• Quantify materials, labor, and assemblies for each project scope

• Identify scope gaps, plan discrepancies, and flag items requiring clarification

Estimate Preparation & Pricing

• Build complete estimates using the company's established pricing catalogue and assemblies

• Prepare organized, professional quote packages ready for owner review and client delivery

• Revise and update estimates as project scope or drawings change

Documentation & Quality Control

• Maintain clear estimating notes documenting assumptions, inclusions, and exclusions

• Keep organized records of all active and submitted estimates

• Ensure consistency and accuracy across all bid documentation

Systems & Software

• Work within Procore Estimating, the takeoff and estimating tool inside the Procore platform, for takeoffs, material pricing, and estimate assembly

• Training on Procore Estimating will be provided; the platform is straightforward relative to most estimating software, and strong estimators new to it will get up to speed quickly

• Communicate with the owner and team by email and phone throughout the bid cycle

Administrative & Operational Support

• Track the status of open quotes and follow up on outstanding items

• Support the owner with estimating-related administrative tasks as needed

• Maintain an organized filing system for submitted and awarded bids

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical estimating, with exposure to commercial, residential, or industrial work

• Genuinely strong at the craft: educated in electrical estimating principles, technically qualified, attentive to detail, and excellent in the work itself, these qualities matter as much as years of experience

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, plans, and project specifications

• Experience working with U.S.-based electrical contractors

• Familiarity with at least one electrical takeoff or estimating platform; prior experience with Procore Estimating is a plus but is not required, as training will be provided

• Working knowledge of electrical materials, assemblies, and labor concepts

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

• High attention to detail and strong follow-through

• Accountable and able to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice-to-Have (Bonus Skills)

• Prior experience with Procore Estimating or Esticom specifically

• Electrical field experience as a journeyman or apprentice transitioning into estimating

• Familiarity with Texas electrical licensing requirements and NEC standards Experience estimating EV charger installations, site lighting, or service upgrade work

• Experience supporting a small or owner-operated electrical contracting business
