About the role
A growing Australian accounting practice is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of a portfolio of clients from start to finish. You’ll work with individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and small to medium businesses across many industries.
This is a remote, part-time role with hours that overlap with Australian business hours. The practice wants someone dependable and self-motivated who is looking for a long-term role and can deliver accurate work on time and within budget.
What you’ll do
Manage your own client portfolio end to end
Complete bookkeeping and prepare financial statements under the Australian Accounting Standards
Prepare and finalise tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships
Prepare monthly and quarterly BAS and FBT returns
Assist with payroll, STP and superannuation
Support tax planning and end of financial year requirements
Prepare budgets, cash flow statements and business performance reports
Give accounting advice on complex transactions
Keep to ATO due dates and flag compliance risks early
Support junior staff and take on ad hoc tasks as the practice grows
Required:
CPA or CA qualified
3+ years of Australian tax and accounting experience, including public practice
Strong knowledge of Australian tax law and Accounting Standards, including CGT, Division 7A and trusts
Experience with small and medium businesses across different industries
Proficient in Xero, MYOB, QBO and TaxDome, with advanced Excel skills
Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Excellent written and verbal English
Comfortable working independently and remotely, and also works well in a team
Nice to have
Experience reviewing or supporting the work of junior staff
Experience with FBT, payroll, STP and superannuation
