Student Affairs (Marine) - SLC Cavite

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Affairs (Marine) Officer to join our Student Learning Centre (SLC) in Dasmarinas City, Cavite. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting our marine program students throughout their educational journey. As Student Affairs (Marine) Officer, you will be the backbone of student support services, ensuring that our marine students receive the guidance, resources and assistance they need to succeed academically and personally. This role is integral to maintaining student satisfaction, retention and overall program excellence within our marine department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive student support and counselling to marine program students regarding academic progress, career development and personal concerns

• Coordinate and facilitate student orientation programs, induction activities and transition support for new marine students

• Monitor student attendance, academic performance and conduct, implementing appropriate interventions and support measures as required

• Organize and coordinate student activities, events and programs that enhance the marine student experience and foster community engagement

• Maintain detailed records of student interactions, concerns and interventions in accordance with institutional policies and data protection requirements

• Liaise with academic staff, program coordinators and other departments to address student welfare issues and ensure holistic support

• Assist in the resolution of student grievances and disciplinary matters, following established procedures and maintaining confidentiality

• Provide information and guidance on student services, financial assistance, scholarships and other support programs available

• Conduct follow-up assessments with students to evaluate the effectiveness of support provided and adjust interventions accordingly

• Contribute to the development and implementation of student welfare policies and best practice initiatives

What we're looking for

• Master's degree in student services, counselling, social work or education or similar field

• Proven experience in student services, student affairs or student support roles within an educational institution

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds

• Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with capacity to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively

• Demonstrated knowledge of or interest in marine education, maritime industries or vocational training programs

• Proficiency in using student information systems and Microsoft Office applications

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly to challenging situations

• Commitment to student-centered service delivery and continuous improvement in student outcomes

• Flexibility and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments
