Professional Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of proven experience as an import supervisor or in a similar leadership role within logistics or supply chain operations
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or any related business course
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, importation processes, and compliance requirements
- In-depth understanding of freight forwarding operations, including terms, conditions, and documentation
- Comprehensive knowledge of shipping regulations, policies, and international trade procedures
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage, supervise, and motivate a team effectively
- Proven ability to train staff, delegate tasks, set priorities, and ensure operational efficiency
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and proactive with strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining accountability for individual performance
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all import operations, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and company policies
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, brokers, and shipping lines to ensure timely and efficient movement of goods
- Review and process import documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness to avoid delays or penalties
- Monitor shipment status and resolve any issues related to customs clearance, delivery schedules, or documentation discrepancies
- Lead, train, and supervise import staff, ensuring proper delegation of tasks and adherence to standard operating procedures
- Establish priorities and workflows to maintain efficiency and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory agencies
- Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and company standards at all times
- Prepare reports and provide updates on import activities, performance metrics, and operational issues
- Continuously identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize import operations
