A Glass Installer is responsible for measuring, cutting, and installing various types of glass in buildings, vehicles, and other structures. This includes windows, doors, mirrors, shower enclosures, storefronts, and glass partitions. The role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong focus on safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure and Cut Glass: Take accurate measurements and cut glass to fit specific dimensions using specialized tools.
- Install Glass: Secure glass in frames, sashes, or openings using adhesives, clips, or other fasteners.
- Repair and Replace: Remove damaged or broken glass and replace it with new materials.
- Read Blueprints: Interpret blueprints, drawings, or work orders to determine glass installation requirements.
- Seal and Weatherproof: Apply sealants or putty to ensure installations are weatherproof and secure.
- Handle Materials Safely: Transport and handle glass safely to avoid breakage or injury.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide excellent service.
- Experience with glass installation tools and techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy glass and stand for extended periods.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and proper handling of glass.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver’s license (for positions requiring travel to job sites).
