- A housekeeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in residential or commercial properties. The role typically involves cleaning, organizing, and maintaining various areas within the facility to ensure a comfortable and hygienic environment.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and Sanitizing:
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
- Disinfect bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas.
- Laundry:
- Wash, dry, fold, and iron laundry as needed.
- Change bed linens and make beds.
- Organization:
- Organize and tidy up rooms, closets, and storage areas.
- Ensure supplies (e.g., toiletries, cleaning products) are stocked.
- Trash Disposal:
- Empty trash bins and take out the garbage.
- Specialized Cleaning:
- Clean appliances, furniture, and upholstery.
- Deep cleaning tasks as assigned (e.g., carpets, ovens, or windows).
- Report Maintenance Issues:
- Identify and report any maintenance issues or damages.
- Guest or Client Service:
- If applicable, interact politely and respectfully with clients or residents, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction.
- Adhere to Safety Standards:
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely according to the manufacturer's instructions.

- Experience:
- Previous experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or related roles is preferred but not always required.
- Physical Stamina:
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Cleaning Knowledge:
- Familiarity with cleaning techniques, products, and equipment, as well as the ability to use them safely.
- Attention to Detail:
- A keen eye for detail to ensure high cleaning standards and thoroughness in tasks.
- Time Management:
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Organization:
- Strong organizational skills to maintain cleanliness and orderliness in various spaces.
- Communication Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively with other staff members and, when necessary, clients or residents.
- Flexibility:
- Willingness to work different shifts, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
- Dependability:
- Reliable and trustworthy with a strong work ethic and a commitment to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.
- Health and Safety Awareness:
- Knowledge of health and safety standards related to cleaning and sanitation.
- Professionalism:
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while working.
- Optional Certifications:
- Certification in housekeeping, cleaning, or sanitation is beneficial but not always required.
