We're Hiring! Job Title: Bookkeeper/Tax Preparer (Night Shift)

- Prepare and File Tax Returns : Accurately complete and file individual and business tax returns (e.g., 1040, 1065, 1120) based on client information and tax regulations.
- Tax Planning : Advise clients on tax strategies to minimize liabilities and maximize deductions and credits.
- Review Financial Documents : Examine financial records, income statements, and other documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
- Ensure Compliance : Stay up to date with federal, state, and local tax laws to ensure tax filings comply with current regulations.
- Client Communication : Communicate with clients to gather necessary financial information and explain tax issues or changes in tax laws.
- Audit Support : Assist clients in case of audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Tax Research : Conduct research on complex tax issues and interpret tax law to assist with special client needs or concerns.
- Provide Recommendations : Offer tax-saving advice and suggest adjustments to client financial strategies based on tax implications.
- Record Keeping : Maintain accurate and organized client files and records for tax preparation and future reference.
- Filing Extensions : File tax extensions for clients when necessary and help manage their filing deadlines.
- Software Utilization : Use tax software programs to prepare returns and process filings efficiently.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in bookkeeping and tax preparation.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and CaseWare.
- Strong knowledge of corporate tax regulations and financial statement preparation.
- Experience with other accounting software is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Experience working with Canadian corporate tax filings.
- Familiarity with secure remote desktop access for data security.
- Knowledge of additional accounting software is an advantage.
- Candidates may work remotely from home, provided their home environment meets security requirements.
- Secure company-provided equipment with antivirus and firewall protection.
- No use of external storage devices (e.g., USB drives) permitted.
- Employees will access client systems through a secure remote desktop connection.
- Static IP setup is preferred for enhanced security.
This role demands attention to detail, knowledge of tax codes, and strong communication skills for working with clients.
