The Sewing Operator is responsible for operating sewing machines to produce high-quality garments or textile products in accordance with specifications and quality standards. This role involves cutting, stitching, and assembling fabric pieces to create finished products, ensuring precision and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation:
- Operate industrial sewing machines, such as lockstitch, overlock, and other specialized machines.
- Adjust machine settings, such as tension and stitch length, to meet product requirements.
Fabric Handling:
- Read and interpret patterns, blueprints, or work orders to determine materials, specifications, and sewing techniques.
- Cut, align, and position fabric pieces for stitching.
Quality Assurance:
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Identify and correct defects or inconsistencies in stitching, alignment, or material.
Production Support:
- Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor sewing machine performance and report maintenance needs or malfunctions.
Safety and Maintenance:
- Follow workplace safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Clean and maintain sewing machines and work areas regularly.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience as a sewing operator in a garment or textile production environment.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in operating various types of sewing machines.
- Ability to read patterns and understand measurements.
- Attention to Detail: Strong eye for detail to ensure precision and quality in stitching.
- Time Management: Ability to meet production deadlines without compromising quality.
- Physical Stamina: Capability to work in a standing or seated position for extended periods.
