Accounting Manager

I. JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, compliance with applicable accounting standards and government regulations, and timely preparation of financial reports. The position manages accounting processes, internal controls, budgeting support, cash flow monitoring, and financial analysis to support management decision-making and achieve organizational objectives.

II. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations

1. Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
2. Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of accounting transactions and financial records.
3. Monitor the general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing activities.
4. Review financial data and investigate discrepancies, unusual transactions, and variances.
5. Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of accounting records.

B. Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Management

1. Supervise the processing and recording of supplier invoices, payments, collections, and other financial transactions.
2. Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable aging reports and ensure timely settlement and collection.
3. Review customer balances, outstanding receivables, and other unsettled accounts.
4. Coordinate with relevant departments to resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and collection concerns.
5. Ensure proper reconciliation of customer and supplier accounts.

C. Internal Controls and Compliance

1. Establish, implement, and monitor accounting policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
2. Ensure compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS), applicable BIR regulations, and other relevant statutory requirements.
3. Coordinate with external auditors, internal auditors, and government agencies, as necessary.
4. Review financial transactions and supporting documents to ensure compliance with company policies and approval procedures.
5. Identify financial risks, control weaknesses, and opportunities for process improvement.

D. Budgeting and Financial Analysis

1. Assist management in preparing annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections.
2. Analyze financial performance, operating expenses, profitability, and budget variances.
3. Prepare financial analysis and recommendations to support business planning and management decisions.
4. Monitor financial indicators and recommend corrective actions for unfavorable variances.
5. Support cost-control initiatives and the efficient utilization of company resources.

E. Cash Management and Financial Monitoring

1. Monitor cash positions, bank balances, and cash flow requirements.
2. Review bank reconciliations and ensure proper recording of cash transactions.
3. Coordinate with treasury or authorized personnel regarding payment schedules and funding requirements.
4. Monitor the proper recording and reconciliation of advances, liquidations, and other financial accountabilities.
5. Ensure that financial transactions are properly supported, authorized, and recorded.

F. Team Management and Coordination

1. Supervise, coach, and evaluate accounting personnel to ensure effective performance and productivity.
2. Assign tasks, establish priorities, and monitor the completion of accounting deliverables.
3. Ensure adherence to reporting deadlines, accounting procedures, and company policies.
4. Coordinate with Operations, Sales, Warehouse, Logistics, HR, and other departments to address financial and accounting concerns.
5. Recommend process improvements, staff development initiatives, and measures to strengthen financial controls.
