We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Purchasing professional to join our dynamic team in the maritime industry. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth procurement of goods and services necessary for our maritime operations, from vessel maintenance to onboard supplies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the maritime sector's unique demands and regulatory environment, with a focus on cost efficiency, quality assurance, and timely delivery. As a key member of our supply chain, you will collaborate closely with suppliers, vendors, and internal departments to negotiate contracts, manage purchase orders, and maintain inventory levels. Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for maritime-related goods and services ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts and terms to achieve cost savings and maintain quality standards.
- Collaborate with vessel crews and technical teams to forecast purchasing needs and plan procurement activities accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance to support inventory management and budgeting.
- Monitor market trends and maritime industry developments to identify opportunities for improved procurement strategies.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehousing teams to ensure timely delivery and proper storage of materials and supplies.
- Resolve any purchasing discrepancies or supplier issues promptly to minimize operational disruptions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies or related field.
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within the maritime industry or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, equipment, and operational requirements.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills to manage supplier relationships effectively.
- Ability to analyze market trends and develop procurement strategies aligned with company goals.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, with strong data management capabilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
