About the Role

Application Engineer for Data Privacy

Responsibilities

Application and Code Review

• Review C#, VB.NET, .NET Framework or modern .NET, ASP.NET, Web Forms, MVC, Razor, APIs and batch components.
• Trace PI and SPI through code, SQL Server, files, logs, caches, exports, backups, integrations and nonproduction environments.

Data Protection Assessment

• Assess encryption at rest and in transit, SQL connections, authentication, authorization, secrets, keys, certificates, logging and privileged access.
• Determine when platform controls suffice and when code, driver, connection, integration or storage changes remain.

Remediation Advice and Delivery

• Document application-specific gaps, remediation options, dependencies, risks and reasonable effort estimates.
• Support approved changes with compatibility, deployment and rollback planning, including legacy or decommissioning systems.

Testing and Technical Evidence

• Define and support unit, integration, regression and security-focused tests with QA, application, DBA and infrastructure teams.
• Collect implementation evidence and residual-gap records; do not accept configuration flags or design statements as proof.

Architecture and Stakeholder Collaboration

• Validate boundaries, data flows and control ownership with Architecture, Security, Data Privacy, owners, vendors and support.
• Explain findings and trade-offs clearly without making unsupported compliance claims.

Documentation and Handover

• Maintain current-state component and data-flow views, assessment notes, remediation plans and evidence checklists.
• Review vendor deliverables and hand over to development, operations and support teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of hands-on application engineering or development experience in Microsoft environments.
• Hands-on C#, .NET Framework or modern .NET, ASP.NET or Web API, and Microsoft SQL Server; equivalent Microsoft experience is acceptable.
• Able to read unfamiliar code and troubleshoot data access, APIs, integrations, background jobs, authentication and deployments.
• Working knowledge of secure development, TLS and encryption at rest and in transit, secrets, certificates, access control and nonproduction data.

Required Skills

• Hands-on C#, .NET Framework or modern .NET, ASP.NET or Web API, and Microsoft SQL Server; equivalent Microsoft experience is acceptable.
• Able to read unfamiliar code and troubleshoot data access, APIs, integrations, background jobs, authentication and deployments.
• Working knowledge of secure development, TLS and encryption at rest and in transit, secrets, certificates, access control and nonproduction data.

Preferred Skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Azure-hosted applications, Azure DevOps, Key Vault, App Service, Functions, API Management, AKS or Azure SQL.
• Legacy .NET Framework, IIS and Windows Server, modernization, vendor-built systems or mobile and backend integration.
• Healthcare, insurance, privacy or regulated-industry experience is helpful but not required; equivalent technical data-protection work qualifies.
