Legal and Compliance Manager

Work Arrangement:

• Schedule: 6 days a week

Job Summary:

The Legal and Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s compliance with all legal, regulatory, and business permit requirements. This role ensures the timely processing and renewal of permits and licenses, supervises the compliance support team, and coordinates with various government agencies such as the SEC, DOLE, BIR, and LGUs. The position also provides guidance to management on compliance matters, ensuring that all company operations adhere to applicable Philippine laws, labor regulations, and internal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervision and Team Management

• Supervise and guide the permits and compliance team in handling daily documentation and government transactions.
• Assign and monitor tasks to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with deadlines.
• Conduct team meetings to review progress, resolve issues, and maintain coordination with other departments.

2. Regulatory Compliance and Documentation

• Oversee the timely application, processing, and renewal of all business permits and licenses (e.g., Barangay Clearance, Mayor’s Permit, BIR, DOLE, SEC, DTI, and other required certifications).
• Ensure that all regulatory documents are complete, accurate, and properly filed.
• Maintain an organized database of permits, licenses, and compliance records for monitoring and audit purposes.
• Ensure company policies, procedures, and operations are aligned with local and national laws.

3. Government Liaison and Coordination

• Act as the company’s representative in dealing with government agencies, including SEC, DOLE, LGUs, and other regulatory bodies.
• Coordinate and submit all necessary forms, reports, and requirements to ensure compliance with government regulations.
• Attend meetings, inspections, or audits conducted by government agencies when necessary.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with government representatives to facilitate smooth transactions.

4. Policy, Compliance, and Advisory Support

• Provide advice to management on compliance and regulatory requirements related to business operations.
• Review and help draft internal compliance policies, memoranda, and other related documents.
• Conduct research on new laws, regulations, and issuances that may affect business operations.
• Recommend updates or improvements to internal procedures to maintain compliance.

5. Reporting and Administrative Functions

• Prepare periodic compliance reports and updates for management review.
• Maintain confidentiality of all corporate and compliance-related information.
• Support management during internal and external audits.
• Ensure proper documentation and safekeeping of all compliance-related communications and files.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Management, Political Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field (JD/LLB preferred).
• At least 3–5 years of experience in corporate compliance, permits processing, or regulatory affairs, preferably in a managerial capacity.
• Strong knowledge of Philippine government processes, corporate registration, and business compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
• High attention to detail, integrity, and professional judgment.
• Proficient in MS Office applications and document management systems.

Preferred Skills and Attributes:

• Experience liaising with SEC, DOLE, BIR, LGUs, and other government agencies.
• Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and official issuances.
