A content moderator reviews, filters, and manages user-generated text, images, videos, and live streams to ensure compliance with a platform's community guidelines, terms of service, and legal regulations. They protect online communities by removing harmful, offensive, or illegal material like hate speech, spam, and graphic violence.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Review: Systematically screen queues of text, video, audio, or image files.
- Policy Enforcement: Identify and remove or flag violations such as harassment, graphic violence, scams, and explicit content.
- User Management: Issue warnings, suspend accounts, or ban repeat offenders.
- Report Handling: Investigate and respond to user-submitted reports and appeals.
- Escalation: Route complex legal, safety, or PR issues to specialized cross-functional teams.
- Process Improvement: Provide feedback on edge cases to refine AI moderation filters and policy handbooks.
