Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Officer to ensure a safe, compliant, and hazard-free work environment across our operations. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring occupational health and safety (OHS) programs, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards and internal safety policies. The ideal candidate possesses strong risk assessment skills, a deep understanding of safety regulations, and the drive to foster a culture of safety across all levels of the workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular site inspections, workplace audits, and hazard assessments to identify potential risks and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Policy Implementation: Assist in developing, updating, and executing occupational safety procedures, emergency response plans, and safe work protocols.
- Incident Investigation: Lead workplace incident, injury, and near-miss investigations; determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Training & Awareness: Conduct safety orientation for new personnel, deliver regular daily/weekly toolbox talks, and organize specialized safety training (e.g., fire safety, first aid, PPE use).
- Compliance & Reporting: Maintain complete and accurate health and safety documentation, injury logs, and environmental reports required by local regulatory bodies and company management.
- Equipment & PPE Monitoring: Inspect safety equipment, fire suppression systems, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure proper maintenance and compliance.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for external safety inspectors, regulatory authorities, and internal safety committees.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of proven experience as a Safety Officer or Safety Specialist in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or infrastructure environments.
- Certifications:
- Mandatory professional safety certifications (e.g., BOSH/COSH, NEBOSH International General Certificate, or OSHA certification).
- First Aid and CPR/AED certifications are highly desirable.
- Technical Knowledge: Thorough understanding of national OSH standards, environmental regulations, hazard identification, and risk control methodologies.
- Key Skills:
- Strong observational and analytical capabilities for risk evaluation.
- Exceptional communication and conflict-resolution skills to enforce safety rules effectively.
- Proficiency in preparing technical reports and maintaining administrative documentation.
