Pharmacy Assistant

A Pharmacy Assistant provides essential support to the pharmacist in the day-to-day operations of a pharmacy. This role involves a variety of tasks, from assisting with medication dispensing and inventory management to providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Medication Dispensing:

* Assist the pharmacist in accurately filling prescriptions.

* Count, measure, and package medications according to prescriptions.

* Prepare labels for medication containers.

* Maintain accurate records of all medications dispensed.

Inventory Management:

* Receive and store incoming medications and supplies.

* Monitor inventory levels and place orders for replenishment.

* Check expiration dates of medications and remove expired stock.

* Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment.

Customer Service:

* Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.

* Answer phone calls and provide information regarding prescriptions and pharmacy services.

* Collect payments and process transactions accurately.

* Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly.

Administrative Support:

* Maintain patient records and update relevant information.

* Assist with insurance claims processing.

* Operate pharmacy software systems.

* Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

* High School Diploma or equivalent.

* Prior experience in a pharmacy setting preferred, but not always required.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Proficiency in basic computer skills.

* Knowledge of pharmacy terminology and procedures (preferred).

* Completion of a pharmacy technician training program (preferred).
