General Ledger Accountant

Responsibilities - Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Present financial reports to senior management, explaining trends and variances.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounting staff (e.g., Staff Accountants, AP/AR Clerks).
- Conduct performance reviews, set departmental goals, and manage staffing schedules.
- Train staff on new processes, software, and accounting standards.
- Develop, implement, and enforce accounting policies and internal controls to safeguard assets.
- Coordinate annual audits (external and internal) and prepare audit schedules.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings (sales tax, 1099s, business licenses).
- Oversee Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Payroll functions to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage cash flow and banking relationships.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to increase efficiency.
