About the Role

Environmental, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) Tracking and Reporting service, a growing pillar of Global Business Services (GBS), will enable BHP to track and manage ESG performance across the entire supply chain to support BHP’s ESG leadership, license to operate and offering of ESG branded products in the market.

Reporting to the Manager ESG Tracking and Reporting, the Principal ESG Tracking and Reporting role contributes to the group level ongoing sustainability related reporting (with a strong emphasis on climate, environment and social investment) and disclosures as well as providing expertise in the design and development of an improved, efficient and effective approach to ESG data governance, tracking and reporting that builds confidence in the future delivery of sustainability pathways along with acceleration of ESG commitments.

Work focus may include the BHP End to End (E2E) Supply Chain Emissions Tracking and Reporting processes and/or supporting the Social Investment work.  

Furthermore, the role provides expertise in identifying, scoping, strategically prioritising and delivering business improvement  opportunities through process improvements, strategic ESG data uplift and the key enabling tools for consistent delivery of progress, review of our performance against commitments and the essential reporting to both internal and external stakeholders.

Critical to achieving success is the ability to build and maintain internal relationships with stakeholders to understand evolving cross-functional business requirements and ensure the rapidly accelerating ESG Tracking and Reporting priorities are supported through an adequate resourcing and investment.  

Accountabilities: 

• Works with Assets and Functions to understand evolving ESG compliance, obligations and opportunities, aligned with global and regional guidance and aggregation methodologies
• Translates prioritised initiatives into a strategic ESG Tracking and Reporting Development/Improvement Roadmap
• Plans and tracks the delivery of and management of prioritised initiatives to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.
• Liaises with Sustainability & Social Value and Commercial to anticipate key and emerging developments in ESG and helps to prepare the business ahead of time, including improved emission tracking and reporting approaches

About You

• Experience in managing corporate priorities, including strategy, programs, planning, targets, governance and reporting
• Experience in the natural resources industry, including operations, and supply chain, commercial and sustainability
• Experience in influencing leadership and leading change
• Demonstrated flexibility and learning agility to ensure that overall objectives are met
• Data and digital-savvy: proficient in understanding data, technology, and the ways for digitisation
• Demonstrated capability in understanding climate policy and broader ESG in BHP jurisdictions, including relevant regulatory and legislative requirements would be highly valued
