JOB SUMMARY
The Purchasing Associate – Meat is responsible for sourcing and purchasing meat products from reliable suppliers while ensuring the right quality, quantity, price, and delivery schedule. The position requires strong knowledge of meat cuts, meat sources, supplier management, and inventory control to support continuous business operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Source and purchase meat products from accredited and reliable suppliers.
- Identify and evaluate suppliers based on quality, price, availability, and reliability .
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other purchasing conditions.
- Maintain good working relationships with meat suppliers, traders, distributors, and producers.
- Monitor meat prices, market trends, availability, and supplier offers.
- Apply knowledge of different meat cuts, grades, specifications, and sources when purchasing.
- Ensure purchased meat meets company quality, quantity, freshness, and specification requirements.
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) and other purchasing documents.
- Monitor supplier deliveries and ensure orders are delivered accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with Warehouse, Quality Control, Operations, and Accounting regarding purchases and deliveries.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing requirements to prevent overstocking or stock shortages .
- Check inventory movement, usage, and available stock to determine replenishment requirements.
- Verify supplier invoices, delivery receipts, and purchase documents for accuracy.
- Handle discrepancies involving quantity, quality, pricing, or delivery.
- Maintain updated records of suppliers, purchases, prices, inventory, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare purchasing and inventory reports as required by management.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures and food safety standards.
- Perform other purchasing-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Marketing, Agriculture, Food Technology, or any related course.
At least 3 years of experience in meat purchasing or related procurement work.
Strong knowledge of meat cuts, specifications, grades, and sources .
Knowledge of local meat suppliers, traders, distributors, and sourcing channels is an advantage.
Strong inventory management and stock monitoring skills .
Experienced in supplier sourcing, price negotiation, and purchase order processing.
Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for purchasing and inventory monitoring.
Detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and able to make timely purchasing decisions.
Willing to coordinate with suppliers and conduct supplier visits or field work when required.
Knowledge of food safety and proper handling of meat products is an advantage.
