AVP Business Development

Executive search firm Monroe Consulting Group Philippines is recruiting on behalf of a leading organization in the power and energy sector . Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President (AVP) - Business Development and Project Management to spearhead growth initiatives and oversee the successful development and execution of strategic energy projects.
This role will be instrumental in driving portfolio expansion, originating and executing large-scale projects, and building strong stakeholder partnerships. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, ensure project delivery excellence, and foster a high-performing organization that supports the company's long-term competitiveness in the energy industry.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of business development strategies aligned with corporate goals.
• Identify, evaluate, and prioritize high-value opportunities in power generation, including renewable energy.
• Drive portfolio growth by converting pipeline opportunities into commercially viable projects.
• Oversee market scanning, regulatory analysis, and industry insights to inform investment decisions.
• Build and sustain strategic relationships with government agencies, regulators, investors, and partners.
• Lead negotiations, partnerships, and commercial discussions at the executive level.
• Provide oversight on end-to-end project development, ensuring feasibility, due diligence, and risk management.
• Direct cross-functional collaboration across finance, legal, regulatory, technical, and operations teams.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and compliant with environmental and safety standards.
• Drive commercial strategy to maximize project profitability and return on investment.
• Establish and monitor KPIs for business development and project execution.
• Prepare and present executive-level reports and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Provide strong leadership and governance, mentoring managers and building organizational capability.

Qualification Standards

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
• MBA or relevant postgraduate degree strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in business development, project management, or related roles within the power and energy sector.
• At least 5 years in a senior leadership role with oversight of teams and major projects.
• Proven track record in originating, developing, and executing large-scale energy projects (e.g., renewable energy).
• Demonstrated expertise in deal structuring, commercial negotiations, and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong background in managing cross-functional teams and complex project portfolios.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic decision-making skills.
