About the Role

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Medical Billing Virtual Assistant to support the day-to-day administrative and billing operations of a growing medical billing company. This role is primarily focused on medical billing, claims management, data entry, payment posting, audits, and coding accuracy. This is a non-phone position, making it ideal for candidates who excel in administrative and back-office healthcare support. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, experience with medical billing processes, and a willingness to learn and grow with the organization.

Responsibilities

• Accurately enter patient and billing information into the medical billing system.
• Post insurance payments, invoices, and billing adjustments for assigned accounts.
• Process billing transactions using CPT codes and provided billing guidelines.
• Review and audit claims to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.
• Research and assign appropriate billing codes for services rendered.
• Identify and resolve billing discrepancies and claim errors.
• Prepare and process corrections, appeals, and resubmissions for denied or rejected claims.
• Submit claims accurately and within required timelines.
• Maintain organized records of billing activities, missing information, and outstanding queries.
• Assist with payment reconciliation, statement reviews, and daily batch closures.
• Ensure billing records are updated, accurate, and compliant with company standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or a related healthcare administrative role.
• Strong data entry and administrative skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Reliable internet connection.
• Dual-monitor workstation setup.

Preferred Skills

• 3+ years of medical billing and denial management experience.
• Familiarity with CPT coding and insurance claims processes.
• Experience handling claim corrections, adjustments, and appeals.
• Experience working with U.S. healthcare billing systems.
• Knowledge of NextGen Office or similar medical billing software.
