Job Summary
The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by implementing safety policies, conducting inspections, and promoting compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce company safety policies and procedures
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance
- Monitor workplace activities to ensure employees follow safety regulations
- Prepare and submit safety reports, incident reports, and risk assessments
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; recommend corrective actions
- Conduct safety orientations and toolbox meetings for workers
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Coordinate with management and staff on safety improvements
- Maintain safety records, permits, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with government safety regulations and standards
- Assist in emergency response planning and drills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field
- Certified Safety Officer (e.g., COSH / BOSH / SO2 certification)
- At least 3-5 years of experience in safety-related roles (construction/manufacturing preferred)
- Knowledge of safety regulations and standards
- Strong observation and analytical skills
- Good communication and leadership skills
