CAD Operator (Knox Corporation)

The CAD Operator supports both the Lighting Design Team and the Control & Automation Team by producing accurate, coordinated, and buildable technical drawings. The role ensures that design intent is translated into clear documentation for implementation, coordination, and execution on site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lighting Design Drawings
- Prepare lighting layouts based on design direction and markups
- Produce detailed drawings including:
- Fixture placement and circuiting
- Mounting details and integration with architectural elements
- Reflected ceiling plans (RCP)
- Assist in updating drawings across SD → DD → IFC stages
- Coordinate with design team for revisions and site changes
2. Control & Automation Drawings
- Prepare lighting control layouts and zoning plans
- Develop Loading Schedules (per circuit, per control system)
- Draft System Diagrams (overall control architecture)
- Produce One-Line Diagrams for:
- DALI / Phase Dim / DMX systems
- Panel connections and control interfaces
- Assist in shop drawings for control panels and integration systems
3. Coordination & Documentation
- Ensure alignment between:
- Lighting layouts
- Control drawings
- Architectural and electrical plans
- Revise drawings based on:
- Site conditions
- Client/consultant feedback
- Technical coordination meetings
- Maintain organized drawing files and version control
4. Visualization Support
- Assist in basic lighting visualization using:
- DIALux evo (lux levels, beam studies, basic simulation)
- Enscape (quick visual outputs for design intent)
- Support the design team in preparing presentation drawings when required
5. Training & Development
- Undergo structured training in:
- Lighting fundamentals (beam, spacing, layering)
- Control systems (DALI, Phase Dim, smart systems)
- Gradually transition from drafting support → design-aware documentation
- Learn to interpret design intent, not just execute drawings
Job Requirements
Must be a BS Architecture Graduate
