You'll support the day-to-day finance operations of two established businesses, managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and payments. Our client is an established Australian business group comprising several businesses across manufacturing, building products and other sectors. With a centralised finance function supporting multiple entities, they are seeking an experienced Accounts Officer to help manage day-to-day finance operations and contribute to the continued success of the group.

In your day-to-day, you will:

• Manage the day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities for two businesses within the group.

• Monitor incoming emails and action accounts-related requests and queries.

• Enter supplier bills and invoices as they are received.

• Import daily invoices into Xero and review them for accuracy and completeness.

• Check and process transactions to ensure accounts records are kept up to date.

• Prepare and set up the weekly payment run.

• Reconcile bank accounts and investigate any discrepancies.

• Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up overdue accounts.

• Contact customers regarding outstanding invoices via email and phone.

• Keep track of payments and ensure receivables are followed up in a timely manner.

• Maintain accurate and organised financial records across both businesses.

• Provide general accounts and administrative support to the centralised finance function.

• Manage recurring accounts tasks independently and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

• Work closely with the finance team and relevant stakeholders to resolve accounts-related issues.

Skills you have:

• At least 5 years of experience in an Accounts Officer or similar accounting related roles.

• Strong experience across accounts payable and accounts receivable.

• Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations.

• Strong working knowledge of Xero.

• Experience processing invoices, bills and payments.

• Comfortable following up overdue accounts and communicating with customers.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Highly organised and able to manage your workload independently.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Comfortable using Microsoft Office 365, Outlook and Excel.

• Reliable and responsible, with the ability to work without constant supervision.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• A proactive mindset with the confidence to investigate issues before escalating them.

• Sound judgement and the ability to identify potential risks or discrepancies.

• High level of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential financial information.

• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Skills that will make you stand out:

• Experience in a manufacturing, building products or similar environment.

• Experience working with a high volume of transactions.

• Xero certification or relevant accounting or bookkeeping qualifications.
