About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Fund Accountant to join our team on a fixed-term contract ending May 31, 2027 . This is a contract-only opportunity, with no guarantee of permanent employment, as any potential extension or conversion will depend on future business needs.

In this role, you will support the administration of hedge funds and private equity funds, managing client accounts and assisting with day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations. You will work closely with experienced professionals and client finance teams while gaining exposure to a variety of fund structures across Canada, the United States, and the Cayman Islands.

The ideal candidate has hands-on hedge fund accounting experience, strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with timely and accurate Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations for an assigned portfolio of clients.

• Upload and process trades across multiple investment vehicles.

• Perform daily cash and investment position reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.

• Support the NAV preparation process, including rolling forward and completing NAV, audit, and tax workbooks.

• Ensure fund income and expenses, including management and performance fees, are accurately accrued in accordance with applicable accounting standards and fund offering documents.

• Review security prices for accuracy and ensure corporate actions are properly reflected in fund records.

• Prepare investor statements and fund financial statements.

• Support year-end audit and tax reporting requirements, coordinating with clients and external auditors as needed.

• Calculate capital calls and prepare related investor notices.

• Respond to ad hoc client reporting requests and other fund accounting requirements.

• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure deliverables are completed within established deadlines.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• 2–4 years of relevant fund accounting experience.

• Hands-on hedge fund accounting experience is required.

• Formal education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting concepts.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with financial data and complex spreadsheets.

• Some knowledge of investment instruments, including equities, bonds, options, and other securities.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing requirements, and meet tight deadlines across multiple client accounts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Private equity fund accounting experience.

• Familiarity with PAXUS or other fund administration systems.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Word.

• Exposure to fund structures and reporting requirements across Canada, the United States, or the Cayman Islands.
