Engine Officer

1. Management of Engine personnel and execution of operation, maintenance and repairs of all machinery and equipment onboard the vessel; training and evaluation of every personnel and regularly submitting report of applicable results to the Captain/Master;

2. Assignment of the engineers to specific work details, such as control and management of machinery, equipment, stores, spare parts tools and paper work;

3. Up-keeping of all machinery and equipment onboard, including technical instruction books and drawings, in good working order; report those items for the repair of replacement that are4 beyond his ability to perform onboard to the Master.

4. Management and control of the ship’s fuel oil, fresh water, stores, and spare parts; make regular reports as required to the Master regarding the consumption and remaining quantity; attention paid concerning economic usage of fuel, lube oils, fresh water, and spare parts; immediately remedy and abnormal consumption past or present; and report the results of his observation or his treatment to the Company through the Master for his record and future reference;

5. Preparation of inspection items to be checked for class or by other surveyors in attendance onboard; in case any defects are found, immediately remedy or make adjustment to bring the item back to normal working order, and to report the results to the Company through the Master;

6. Prior to the vessel’s planned docking repair, submit repair lists to the Master for the Company’s decision on repair items which includes work items to be carried out by crew hands themselves; upon completion of repair ashore, acknowledge the contents of repairs lists with signature; and,

7. In case of emergency, such as fire, going aground, collision, or flooding of the engine room, immediate contact the Master to report to the Designated Person and taking necessary measures to control, remedy, or minimize the damage as far as possible.

8. Responsible for briefing, orientation and giving familiarization of newly hired engine personnel and personnel transferred to new positions regarding the Safety Management System of the company, assigned duties/responsibilities, duties during emergency situations and different shipboard operations;
