Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Licensed Chemist (preferred, if applicable)
- At least 1–3 years of experience in essential oils, botanical extracts, or cosmetic formulation (experience with rose-based products is an advantage)
- Knowledge of steam distillation, hydrodistillation, and extraction processes for essential oils and hydrosols
- Familiarity with natural product formulation, including preservation systems for water-based products (e.g., hydrosols)
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and cosmetic regulations (e.g., FDA Philippines, ASEAN Cosmetic Directive)
- Experience in quality testing such as pH, density, refractive index, GC analysis (for essential oils), and microbial testing
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain product consistency and quality
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize formulations for Rose Otto (rose essential oil) and Rose Water (hydrosol) products
- Oversee and monitor distillation processes (steam or hydro-distillation) to ensure quality yield and purity
- Conduct raw material evaluation of rose petals and other botanical inputs (freshness, quality, traceability)
- Perform laboratory testing such as pH, organoleptic evaluation (odor, color), microbial analysis, and stability testing
- Ensure proper preservation and shelf-life stability of rose water products
- Maintain consistency of fragrance profile and chemical composition of Rose Otto
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation (formulations, batch records, COA, SDS)
- Ensure compliance with FDA and ASEAN cosmetic regulations for natural and botanical products
- Support scale-up from pilot distillation to full production and ensure process standardization
- Investigate and resolve issues related to product quality, contamination, or variation in raw materials
- Implement and monitor GMP, sanitation, and safety procedures in production and laboratory areas
