Boomi Integration Lead Consultant

The Boomi Integration Consultant / Architect is responsible for designing, delivering, and governing enterprise integration solutions using the Boomi Integration Platform (Boomi AtomSphere). The role enables organisations to connect SaaS, cloud, on-premise, and hybrid systems through scalable, secure, and reusable integration patterns.

Depending on experience and seniority, the role may focus on hands-on development and delivery (Consultant) or integration architecture, standards, and platform governance (Architect). The role works closely with business stakeholders, application teams, and platform architects to ensure integrations are robust, sustainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture and security standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Integration Design & Delivery

• Design and implement integrations using Boomi AtomSphere.
• Develop integrations using standard Boomi components (processes, connectors, profiles and maps).
• Build APIs and event-driven integrations supporting real-time and batch integration patterns.
• Integrate enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, HR, finance, and SaaS platforms, applying best practices for error handling, retries, and exception management.

Architecture & Standards (Architect Focus)

• Define Boomi integration architecture and platform usage standards.
• Design reusable integration patterns and shared components.
• Govern integration designs across delivery teams.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise security, identity and data standards.

Operations, Monitoring & Support

• Implement monitoring, alerting and logging using Boomi platform features.
• Support deployment, migration, version management, and platform upgrades.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues.
• Contribute to operational documentation and support runbooks.

Collaboration & Advisory

• Work with business, application, data and cloud teams.
• Advise stakeholders on Boomi capabilities, integration approach, and trade-offs.
• Mentor junior consultants and developers (Senior / Architect level).

Skills, Experience and Competencies:

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in Boomi AtomSphere.
• Experience with REST/SOAP APIs, message queues and event-driven integrations.
• Knowledge of data transformation, mapping and orchestration.
• Understanding of integration security, authentication and connectivity.
• Experience integrating SaaS and enterprise applications.

Experience:

• 10–14+ years of overall IT experience.
• 7–10+ years of hands-on experience with Boomi integrations.
• Proven experience defining enterprise integration strategies and standards.

Competencies

• Systems thinking in complex SI working effectively across ‘complicated’ to ‘complex’ integrations, adapts delivery approach (agile/waterfall/hybrid), and making sound decisions with potentially incomplete information.
• Delivery governance and assurance applying fit for purpose governance, decision records and quality controls to protect outcomes and minimise rework.
• Stakeholder and vendor management aligning multiple parties (client, vendors and delivery streams) to scope, milestones and technical standards.
• Commercial and requirements discipline clarifying assumptions, dependencies, risks and Customer Furnished Items (CFIs), and maintains requirements traceability and clear ‘definition of done’.
• Architecture-to-execution alignment translating solution intent into build ready artefacts (interfaces, data flows, controls, environments and sequencing) that engineering teams can execute with confidence.
• Secure-by-design delivery embedding security, privacy, identity and access controls into integration designs from day one (designed in, not bolted on).
• Reuse and acceleration leveraging reference architectures, patterns, standards and accelerators to increase delivery velocity and consistency.
• Operational readiness designing for run (monitoring, support model, runbooks and auditability) to ensure stable operations post go live.

Qualifications and Certifications

• Boomi Professional Developer or Architect Certification (preferred).
• Cloud platform certifications (Azure / AWS – desirable).
• Integration or architecture certifications (Architect level – desirable).
