Job Role: Senior Bookkeeper (Crypto)

Compensation range: PHP 65,000 - 90,000 per month (negotiable) + 13th Month Pay

Engagement type: Full-time Employee

Work Schedule: 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday

Work Arrangement: This role will initially be fully remote while onboarding and processes are being established. Over time, the position will transition into a hybrid setup, requiring employees to work from the office 3 days per week. Candidates should be comfortable with this future arrangement and be willing to commute or relocate to ensure they can meet the onsite requirement.

Who The Client Is: An AI-native boutique accounting and advisory firm headquartered in Brisbane, with operations across Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, the UK, and the USA, supported by offshore teams in the Philippines and India.

They operate across 22 practice areas including International Tax Advisory, R&D Tax Incentive, Virtual CFO/Financial Advisory, and SME Compliance. Their mission is to deliver Big Four-quality advisory services to SMEs and mid-market clients through AI-enabled operational efficiency.

Role Overview: We're looking for an experienced Australian Bookkeeper with strong cryptocurrency bookkeeping expertise to manage a portfolio of Australian clients.

This role goes beyond day-to-day bookkeeping. You'll own the bookkeeping and BAS function, ensure high-quality financial records, support junior bookkeepers as a technical reference point, and manage complex cryptocurrency transactions and reporting. You'll work closely with the accounting team to deliver accurate financial data while leveraging AI-enabled workflows and modern accounting technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Australian Bookkeeping:

• Manage a portfolio of Australian business clients
• Perform bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and month-end closing
• Maintain accurate financial records in Xero
• Prepare workpapers and support management reporting
• Identify and resolve coding issues instead of carrying forward inaccuracies

BAS & Compliance

• Prepare BAS and IAS working papers
• Ensure accurate GST coding and compliance with Australian tax requirements
• Escalate unusual transactions and compliance risks where appropriate

Australian Payroll

• Process Australian payroll accurately
• Manage STP Phase 2 reporting
• Calculate superannuation, leave accruals, and employee terminations
• Maintain awareness of payroll tax obligations

Cryptocurrency Bookkeeping

• Reconcile cryptocurrency exchange accounts and on-chain wallets
• Resolve missing cost base and transfer matching issues
• Produce accurate reportable capital gains and losses
• Process crypto transactions including:
• Crypto-to-crypto swaps
• Staking rewards
• Airdrops
• DeFi transactions
• Prepare accurate records in line with Australian taxation treatment

SMSF Bookkeeping

• Assist with SMSF bookkeeping
• Perform fund data entry and transaction processing

Technology & Process Improvement

• Use AI-assisted bookkeeping and reconciliation tools to improve efficiency
• Work with crypto reporting software such as Summ or similar platforms
• Ensure clean financial data is maintained for reporting and advisory purposes

Team Support

• Act as a technical resource for junior bookkeepers
• Share knowledge and assist with bookkeeping best practices
• Maintain high standards of accuracy and quality across the team

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of Australian bookkeeping experience
• Xero Certified with strong hands-on experience
• Strong experience with:
• Bank reconciliations
• Accounts Payable
• Accounts Receivable
• Month-end close
• Experience preparing BAS and IAS
• Excellent GST coding knowledge and the ability to identify coding errors
• Strong Australian payroll experience including:
• STP Phase 2
• Superannuation Guarantee
• Leave accruals
• Employee terminations
• Payroll tax awareness
• Exposure to SMSF bookkeeping and fund data entry
• Comfortable using AI-assisted bookkeeping, coding, and reconciliation tools
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate management reporting data
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using Summ for cryptocurrency bookkeeping
• Experience with Koinly, CoinTracking, or Crypto Tax Calculator
• Comfortable working with raw exchange CSV exports and blockchain explorer data
• Experience working in Australian accounting firms
• Experience supporting or mentoring junior bookkeepers
• Proven cryptocurrency bookkeeping and reporting experience
• Strong understanding of Australian crypto taxation, including:
• Capital Gains Tax (CGT)
• Crypto-to-crypto CGT events
• Trading stock vs investment treatment
• Staking and airdrop income
• DeFi transactions
