Sourcing Manager

Job Summary:
The Sourcing Officer for Fresh Produce Fruits will oversee the procurement and trading operations of fresh produce, ensuring a seamless flow from sourcing to delivery. This role requires strong coordination, negotiation, and organizational skills to build supplier relationships, manage logistics, and facilitate trading activities. He/she must possess a thorough understanding of the fresh produce industry and demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Sourcing and Relationship Management
• Identify and establish partnerships with reliable suppliers and growers of fresh produce fruits.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a consistent supply chain.
• Conduct market research to identify new sourcing opportunities and client needs.
2. Logistics Coordination
• Plan and manage the transportation of fresh produce, ensuring timely delivery while minimizing costs and maintaining product quality.
• Collaborate with logistics providers to optimize shipping schedules and routes.
• Monitor compliance with food safety and handling regulations during transport and storage.
3. Trading and Market Analysis
• Research market trends, demand forecasts, and pricing strategies to inform trading decisions.
• Identify potential buyers and negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to ensure cost-effectiveness and mutually beneficial agreements.
• Analyze trading data to optimize profitability and identify growth opportunities.
4. Coordination and Monitoring
• Serve as the primary point of contact between suppliers, logistics providers, and buyers.
• Track and monitor the movement of goods, ensuring compliance with quality standards and delivery schedules.
• Address and resolve any issues related to sourcing, logistics, or trading in a timely manner.
5. Quality Assurance
• Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure fruits meet company and regulatory standards.
• Conduct regular supplier audits and inspections to maintain quality consistency.
• Handle any quality issues or complaints from clients and implement corrective measures.
6. Reporting and Documentation
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of procurement, trading activities, and logistics operations.
• Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate supply chain efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience in sourcing, trading, and/or logistics, preferably in the fresh produce industry.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using supply chain management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of fresh produce quality standards, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements is a plus.
Work Environment:
• This role may require travel to supplier locations, farms, and distribution centers.
• A mix of office-based and fieldwork activities will be involved.
