Product Designer & Illustrator

Navy Peony is a vibrant stationery lifestyle brand born from the creative spirit of Southeast Asia. Since 2018, we've been crafting expressive, design-forward products that empower people to live authentically and creatively. From vision board stickers to travel collections, our designs help people pursue their dreams and preserve meaningful memories.

We're looking for a talented Product Designer & Illustrator with a passion for typography, hand lettering, and visual storytelling. This is a full-time remote position where you'll collaborate with a passionate, cross-functional team across Southeast Asia.

You'll be at the heart of the creative process for Athena's Atelier, our new stationery brand dedicated to empowering dreamers and builders to live their visions. You'll transform meaningful words and ideas into beautifully illustrated products, bringing thoughtful design and artistry to everything you create.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and design original stationery and lifestyle products that reflect Athena's Atelier's aesthetic and brand identity.
• Create original artwork through illustration, hand lettering, typography, and visual composition.
• Design each product as a cohesive work of art, with intentional composition, clear visual hierarchy, and elements that come together meaningfully.
• Research design trends, artistic references, and market opportunities to inform product concepts and keep our designs fresh and relevant.
• Translate creative briefs into compelling concepts, original artwork, and initial digital mockups.
• Design marketing and e-commerce assets that communicate each product's visual story from concept through launch.
• Collaborate with the product manager to refine concepts and ensure designs align with brand and business objectives.
• Prepare polished, production-ready artwork according to print and digital specifications.
• Evaluate customer feedback and product performance to inform future design decisions and improve our creative direction.
• Maintain brand consistency while exploring new approaches to lettering, typography, and illustration.
• Continuously deepen your artistic knowledge through deliberate study and apply new insights to elevate the quality of your work.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hand-lettering and typography skills, including creating original letterforms, pairing typefaces, and establishing clear visual hierarchy.
• High proficiency in industry-standard design tools, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Procreate. InDesign or equivalent layout experience is a plus.
• Excellent command of English, with the ability to interpret the meaning and nuance of written expressions through lettering and illustration.
• A keen eye for color harmony, balanced composition, clean silhouettes, layout, and compelling visual storytelling.
• The ability to interpret creative briefs, develop original concepts, and independently deliver polished, production-ready artwork.
• Experience creating marketing visuals, product mockups, infographics, and lifestyle composites, or a portfolio demonstrating these capabilities.
• A strong portfolio showcasing original lettering, typography, illustration, and thoughtful composition.
• Experience developing cohesive brand identities, visual systems, or product collections.
• A demonstrated commitment to deep learning, artistic growth, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
• Adaptability across different design styles and creative requirements.
• A genuine appreciation for meaningful, beautifully crafted stationery and lifestyle products.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in graphic design, lettering, digital illustration, or related creative fields, ideally within stationery, gifting, or consumer products.
• Experience designing e-commerce listing images, product infographics, and social media creatives.
• A strong understanding of retail design trends and the ability to translate market insights into commercially appealing products.
• Familiarity with print production, including CMYK color, vector dielines, kiss-cut sticker layouts, foil stamping, and spot UV.
• Experience creating realistic digital mockups to visualize artwork on physical products.
• Photography or photo-retouching skills for styled product imagery.
