Application Support Engineer – IBM AS/400 Administrator

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Application Support Engineer specializing in IBM AS/400 Administration to support, maintain, and optimize critical business systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting complex technical issues, monitoring system performance, ensuring system availability, and implementing solutions to improve operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise in IBM AS/400 environments, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead technical discussions, collaborate with multiple teams, and provide guidance to team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in IBM AS/400 Administration.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize system performance, stability, and availability.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system incidents and technical issues.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
- Participate in technical decision-making and provide solutions to issues affecting multiple teams.
- Perform system performance tuning, capacity planning, and operational optimization.
- Manage and support backup, recovery, and data integrity procedures.
- Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting and relevant tools.
- Develop and implement best practices to improve system reliability and support processes.
- Mentor and guide team members in technical troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IBM AS/400 Administration .
- Expert-level proficiency in IBM AS/400 environments.
- Strong understanding of system architecture, administration, and operational procedures.
- Experience in performance monitoring, tuning, capacity planning, and system optimization.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Experience with scripting or automation tools is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple teams, manage technical responsibilities, and support team decisions.
