Accountant (AP/AR & General Ledger)
Summary
The Accountant is responsible for performing a full range of accounting duties including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger activities. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, timely transaction processing, and adherence to company policies and accounting principles. The position supports month-end close, reconciliations, audits, and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process vendor invoices, credit memos, and payment requests accurately and timely.
- Verify invoice coding, approvals, and compliance with company policies.
- Prepare weekly or scheduled payment runs (ACH, checks, wire transfers).
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain vendor files and support 1099 reporting.
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Generate customer invoices and ensure timely billing.
- Record customer payments (checks, ACH, credit card) and apply cash receipts.
- Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up on overdue balances.
- Prepare aging reports and support collections efforts.
- Resolve billing or payment issues with customers.
- General Ledger (GL)
- Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts (bank, AP, AR, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, etc.).
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Support preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Additional Duties
- Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Help improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (procurement, operations, sales, etc.).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5 years of accounting experience, including AP, AR, and GL responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting procedures.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations).
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
