Operations Manager

I. Strategic Planning and Optimization:
- Planning and optimizing delivery routes to minimize costs, fuel consumption, and transit times.
- Forecasting demand and ensuring sufficient fleet capacity to meet customer needs.
- Efficiently allocating trucks, drivers, and other resources to maximize utilization.
- Analyzing operational data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Contributing to the development of long-term operational strategies.
II. Fleet Management:
- Overseeing vehicle maintenance schedules and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Monitoring fuel consumption and implementing strategies to reduce fuel costs.
- Sourcing and procuring new vehicles and equipment as needed.
- Utilizing GPS tracking systems to monitor vehicle location and performance.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.
III. Driver Management:
- Recruiting, hiring, and training qualified drivers.
- Creating and managing driver schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
- Monitoring driver performance and providing feedback and coaching.
- Enforcing safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety among drivers.
- Maintaining clear and effective communication with drivers.
IV. Customer Service and Relationship Management:
- Communicating with customers regarding delivery schedules and updates.
- Resolving customer complaints and addressing any delivery issues.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
- Identifying opportunities to improve customer service and satisfaction.
- Managing service contracts with customers.
V. Logistics and Supply Chain Management:
- Overseeing warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and shipping goods.
- Managing inventory levels and ensuring accurate inventory tracking.
- Coordinating with suppliers and customers to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
- Planning and coordinating the movement of goods from origin to destination.
- Ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and on time.
VI. Technology and Systems:
- Utilizing TMS software to manage transportation operations.
- Utilizing WMS software to manage warehouse operations.
- Utilizing GPS tracking systems to monitor vehicle location and performance.
- Utilizing data analysis tools to analyze operational data and identify trends.
- Staying up to date on, and implementing new technologies that improve efficiency.
VII. Compliance and Regulations:
- Ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental regulations.
- Maintaining accurate records of all operational activities.
VIII. Team Leadership and Management:
- Supervising and managing a team of dispatchers, drivers, and other operational staff.
- Setting performance goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
- Fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Providing training and development opportunities for team members.
- Resolving conflicts and addressing any team issues.
