Customs Compliance Specialist (Spanish Bilingual) | WFH

Objective:

To coordinate and manage activities related to Foreign Trade and Customs processes, ensuring full compliance with the provisions and guidelines issued by the relevant authorities.

Essential Responsibilities:

Customs Operations & Clearance:

• Preparation of import/export invoices and related documentation required for customs clearance under various customs entry types (A1, A3, AF, C1, F4, F5, D1, IN, K1, P1, RT, V1, etc.).
• Ensure complete and accurate recording of all import/export operations (invoices/customs entries) in the Global Trade PRISMA customs system.
• Review and approve payment of individual and/or consolidated customs entries, providing required information to Customs Brokers and ensuring that each operation is properly closed in the Global Trade PRISMA system.

Virtual Operations:

• Coordinate virtual import/export operations with suppliers and/or customers, including invoice reconciliation, data updates and corrections, and review and approval of customs entry payments.

Cost Strategy:

• Request, obtain, and manage certificates of origin for imported goods.
• Issue affidavits or second-level Certificates of Origin for customers.
• Ensure proper payment of duties and taxes by applying preferential tariff treatments according to the type of operation (USMCA, EU, C1, etc.).
• Review and approve invoices for Customs Broker fees and related services in accordance with established tariffs.
• Generate documentation and reports related to foreign trade taxes and Customs Broker service expenses for the Finance department.
• Control and monitoring of temporary imports.
• Administer and ensure compliance with inventory controls in accordance with Annex 24 and Annex 30 regulations (SCCCyG).

Customs Compliance:

• Coordinate tariff classification for new products or updates to existing classifications.
• Update records in ERP systems (WebUI/PDG), including additions, deletions, and changes to part numbers, product descriptions, MX/US HTS codes, country of origin, and USMCA certificates of origin.
• Maintain and update catalogs within the Global Trade PRISMA customs system.
• Request, obtain, and manage legal documentation from customers and suppliers.
• Obtain and safeguard digital and electronic records for import/export operations within the SAAE and Global Trade PRISMA systems.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable legal processes, regulations, and governmental obligations (Mexico and U.S.), including IMMEX and CIVA certifications.
• Manage control matrices for business partners (Customs Brokers, Carriers, Suppliers, Customers, etc.).

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or International Trade.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Customs or Foreign Trade (preferred).
