About the role
REMOTE INITIALLY
We are looking for a legal assistant or paralegal to manage complaints from lodgement to outcome. You will correspond with players and operators, organise evidence and prepare cases for assessment. You will work directly with the Service's head in Australia, in the same time zone as Manila.
Complaint volumes will be modest in the early months, so the role initially also covers poker governance news, and will require daily coverage for PRR. As the Service grows, news and analysis will move to a dedicated resource and this role will continue to focus on the Service.
Key responsibilities
Receive and screen new complaints against the Service's eligibility criteria and timeframes
Correspond with players and operators in clear, professional English, providing technical advice on the complaints process
Request, collect and organise evidence, including documents, screenshots, hand histories and video
Prepare chronologies, case summaries and draft assessments for review
Track every case against its deadlines and keep case records accurate and complete
Support the Executive Director in preparing decisions for publication, including redacting personal information
Monitor operators' compliance with outcomes and keep the compliance record up to date
Research and report on poker governance stories, including regulation, licensing, enforcement, court cases, operator disputes and integrity issues
Verify facts against primary sources and seek comment from the people and organisations involved
Write news reports for PRR's website and publish them
About you
A degree in law, legal management, political science or a related field
2+ years' experience in a legal, paralegal, compliance or complaints-handling role
Excellent written English – you will write to players and operators around the world, and your news reports will be published
High-level customer service
Close attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to set out facts and evidence in a clear, neutral summary
Sound judgement with sensitive information
Knowledge of poker and/or online gaming is a strong advantage
Familiarity with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 is an advantage
News writing or research experience is an advantage
The self-discipline to manage your own hours and deliver on time

Poker Room Review (PRR) is a YouTube channel and news site that reviews live poker rooms around the world. It also covers news and major issues in poker with expert analysis and commentary. PRR also operates the Independent Poker Complaints Service (the Service) for online poker players. It assesses complaints from players against participating online poker operators. PRR and the Service are services of Ethical Play Consulting Pty Ltd.
