Installation and Maintenance of Power Lines:
- Install Electrical Lines : Install and maintain high-voltage power lines and associated equipment, ensuring proper alignment, connection, and safety.
- Repair and Upgrade Power Lines : Troubleshoot and repair damaged or outdated power lines, ensuring minimal disruption to electrical services.
- Work with Both Overhead and Underground Lines : Install, inspect, and repair both overhead transmission lines and underground power distribution lines.
Inspection and Testing:
- Inspect Power Lines and Equipment : Regularly inspect power lines, transformers, and poles for wear, damage, and potential hazards.
- Test Electrical Systems : Use specialized testing equipment to measure the functionality and integrity of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Identify Faults and Issues : Diagnose electrical faults in power lines and distribution systems and determine the best method for repair.
- Perform Emergency Repairs : Respond to emergency calls for downed lines or power outages, working swiftly to restore service safely and efficiently.
- Rewire Systems : Rebuild, rewire, and replace faulty electrical components in power lines and equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow Safety Protocols : Adhere to strict safety standards and regulations, including wearing protective gear, using insulated tools, and following lockout/tagout procedures to prevent electrical accidents.
- Operate Heavy Machinery Safely : Safely operate heavy equipment such as aerial lifts, digger derricks, and bucket trucks to access power lines at elevated heights.
- Ensure Compliance with Regulations : Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal electrical codes and safety regulations.
Team Collaboration and Communication:
- Work as Part of a Team : Coordinate with other linemen, engineers, and support staff to complete projects and resolve service issues efficiently.
- Communicate Effectively : Report the status of work assignments, potential issues, and safety concerns to supervisors and other team members.
- Provide Guidance to Apprentices : Mentor and train junior linemen or apprentices on proper techniques, safety protocols, and troubleshooting procedures.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Document Work Activities : Keep detailed records of all work completed, including inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, and safety inspections.
- Provide Reports : Submit regular reports on work progress, issues encountered, and any necessary follow-up actions for future repairs or maintenance.
Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance:
- Maintain Tools and Equipment : Ensure that all tools, vehicles, and equipment are in good working order, conducting routine inspections and maintenance as necessary.
- Operate Company Vehicles : Safely drive and operate company vehicles and equipment to transport materials and personnel to job sites.
Has a license 1st to 3rdclass
- At least high school graduate
- Has a certification
- Ages 25 to 40
