General Ledger Accountant

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented bookkeeper with experience in Australian bookkeeping and accounting.

The location is IT Park, Cebu City.

The ideal candidate will have fluent English communication skills, a meticulous approach to bookkeeping, and the ability to work autonomously. You will be responsible for managing the bookkeeping for Australian small business clients and this is likely to lead to a leadership role as the team grows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Have knowledge of Australian bookkeeping requirements and general Australian tax deductibility
• Assist in managing client engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring deadlines are met

Key Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 years experience in Australian bookkeeping/accounting
• Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws, compliance standards, and accounting principles
• Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in tax computations and reporting
• Proficiency in using accounting and tax software (especially Xero)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Accounting degree
• Experience bookkeeping for Australian businesses is REQUIRED

Non-Negotiable Experience Requirements:

Management Reporting:

Proven experience preparing monthly management reports, with the ability to clearly explain movements, trends and variances, and to identify red flags and anomalies.

Australian Bookkeeping & Compliance:

Extensive hands-on Australian bookkeeping experience with strong knowledge of Australian compliance requirements. As a guide, I would consider a minimum of four years’ relevant experience essential.

Full Month-End Close Ownership:

Demonstrated ownership of the full month-end close process, including confidence and experience with accrual and prepayment journal entries. This has been a clear gap with candidates presented so far.

Xero Cleanup & Rescue Work:

Experience correcting and cleaning up historically messy Xero files, including identifying and resolving balance sheet issues.
