SAFETY ENGINEER – MINING SITE

Westernshore Nickel Corporation seeks a qualified, experienced Safety Engineer, preferably a Mining Engineer, to join our team and help maintain safe, efficient, and compliant mining operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, ideally with a valid Licensed Mining Engineer credential.
• Possessing at least 1 year of relevant experience in mining operations, quarrying, construction, or a comparable industrial setting.
• With Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training.
• Preferably holding Safety Officer training or certification.
• Familiarity with occupational safety and health standards as well as applicable mining safety regulations.
• Skilled in performing safety inspections, identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments, and investigating incidents.
• Well-versed in PPE requirements, emergency response procedures, and workplace safety protocols.
• Willing to work on-site at a mining operation and under field conditions.
• Solid skills in communication, leadership, documentation, and problem-solving.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carry out and oversee safety programs across the mining site.
• Perform routine safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Spot hazards and propose corrective and preventive actions.
• Facilitate toolbox meetings, safety orientations, and safety sessions.
• Track adherence to PPE and site safety requirements.
• Look into accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Produce safety reports and keep required documentation up to date.
• Coordinate with mining operations and site personnel regarding safety matters.
• Make sure all relevant occupational safety and mining regulations are complied with.
