A cashier handles transactions at a point of sale, processes payments, provides customer service, and maintains accurate financial records. They may also assist with bagging items, issuing receipts, and managing refunds or exchanges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process cash, credit, and digital payments
- Provide change and issue receipts
- Assist customers with inquiries and purchases
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area
- Reconcile cash register at the end of shifts
- Follow company policies on transactions and security
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic math and computer skills
- Strong customer service and communication abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Previous cashier or retail experience (preferred)
