A Cashier is responsible for processing transactions, handling customer payments, and providing excellent customer service in a retail or service environment. This role involves operating cash registers, maintaining accurate cash drawers, and ensuring smooth checkout experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using cash registers or POS systems.
- Handle various forms of payment (cash, credit/debit cards, mobile payments).
- Issue receipts, refunds, and exchanges as necessary.
- Maintain clean and organized checkout areas.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting with inquiries and resolving issues.
- Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor inventory levels and report discrepancies.
- Follow store policies and procedures, including those related to security and safety.
- Assist with stocking and organizing shelves as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred.
- Strong math skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer and cash register proficiency.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
