Junior Functional System Tester

Position Summary The Functional System Tester Junior will support the end-to-end testing activities for the firm’s employee experience program, with a focus on validating configuration, integrations and business processes across multiple systems. The role will work under the direction of the Test Manager and in close collaboration with Workstream Leads to plan and prepare tests, execute Functional, UAT, E2E and regression test cycles, and support product release testing. The tester will be responsible for hands-on testing of one or more business applications and participating in regression testing across environments. The position is suited to candidates with 1–2 years of functional testing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate testing activities and reporting within a structured project environment. Scope of Work 1. Test Preparation and Planning Support

• Review functional design documents or configuration workbooks, as well as user stories for assigned modules.
• Assist in deriving test conditions from requirements and design under guidance from the Test Manager and document test scenarios and test cases in the agreed test management tool.
• Identify and document required test data and coordinate with Test Manager and data owners to ensure availability in the relevant test environments.
• Support maintaining traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects for assigned scope as defined by the Test Manager.
• Provide input to test plans, execution schedules and status reporting packs (e.g test case counts, execution status and defect details) as directed by the Test Manager.

2. Test Execution – Functional, Integration, UAT and Regression

• Execute test cases for assigned modules in accordance with agreed timelines and test cycles.
• Perform end-to-end testing across impacted processes, including cross-module flows.
• Perform end-to-end integration testing across multiple platforms to validate system interactions, confirm that data is transmitted, transformed, and stored accurately across all integrated components.
• Capture and document actual test results, including relevant evidence (screenshots, reports, logs) in the test management tool following project standards.
• Re-execute test cases as part of defect retesting and regression test cycles, ensuring that fixes do not introduce new issues in related areas.
• Support Business testers during UAT in creating test data and/or providing basic walkthroughs on the system as needed.

3. Defect Management and Coordination

• Log defects clearly and accurately with sufficient detail (preconditions, steps to reproduce, expected vs actual behavior, severity and supporting evidence).
• Participate in defect triage meetings with the Test Manager and Workstream Lead to provide clarification on test steps and observed impacts for defects raised.
• Track the status of logged defects, follow up with development/configuration teams on resolutions as needed, and provide clear testing evidence and impact details to support prioritization by the Test Manager and business stakeholders.
• Verify implemented fixes and close defects in line with defect management procedures once a successful retest is completed.

Qualifications and Competencies 1. Education and Professional Background

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, HR or related field.
• 1–2 years of hands-on system testing experience.
• Experience working in a structured project environment (e.g Agile or hybrid) is preferred.

2. Technical & Functional Skills

• Testing experience in Workday or another HRIS/enterprise SaaS platform is desirable.
• Experience designing and executing test cases for system changes or releases; exposure to integration testing is desirable.
• Familiarity with Workday or other HR/people systems (for example performance management, learning, absence/time tracking, core HR, recruitment or reporting) is desirable.
• Basic understanding of test management and defect tracking tools (e.g JIRA Zephyr or similar).
• Ability to analyze requirements, understand business process flows, and translate them into testable scenarios.

3. Testing Competencies

• Understanding of core software testing concepts (test design, positive and negative testing, regression testing, risk-based testing).
• Ability to identify defects, articulate expected versus actual behavior, and propose likely functional areas for investigation.
• Attention to detail in documenting test steps, evidence and outcomes to support repeatability and audit requirements.
• Experience participating in or supporting UAT and E2E testing with business users is desirable.

4. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

• Analytical skills with the ability to investigate issues systematically, reproduce problems, and distinguish between configuration, data and environment issues.
• Ability to follow complex process flows across modules.
• Ability to prioritize testing activities and defects based on risk and business impact under guidance from the Test Manager.
