About the role
This is a department head accounting role in a hotel or resort setting, requiring someone to lead financial operations, sign off on financial statements and BIR filings, and manage a small accounting team. You will own the full month-end close process, manage purchasing and vendor relationships, ensure tax compliance, and serve as the main contact for external auditors.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and review full financial statements under PFRS
- Handle BIR filings including VAT, withholding taxes, income tax, and books registration
- Manage BIR audits
- Run or supervise purchasing including canvassing, purchase orders, vendor accreditation, and approval limits
- Own the full month-end close process with a target of 5–10 working days
- Serve as main contact for external auditors
- Prepare annual budgets and monitor actual vs. budget performance
- Design and maintain internal controls including segregation of duties and approval matrices
- Manage accounting team and delegate work appropriately
- Explain financial results clearly to non-accountants including owners and department heads
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy
- CPA license (strongly preferred)
- 8–10+ years in accounting with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Experience preparing or reviewing full financial statements under PFRS
- Hands-on experience with BIR filings and BIR audits
- Hotel or resort accounting experience including income audit, night audit, hotel booking system (PMS) to GL reconciliation, F&B and inventory costing, service charge distribution, deposits and advance bookings
- Experience with hotel purchasing including F&B and housekeeping supplies, par levels, receiving and storeroom controls, and food cost monitoring
- Experience as main contact for external auditors
- Proficiency with accounting systems such as SAP Business One, QuickBooks, Xero or similar, plus hotel PMS such as Opera or Cloudbeds
- Willing to relocate and commit to living and working in Boracay long-term
- Stable work history with 2–3+ years per role
- Integrity and willingness to uphold policy
- Hands-on approach and willingness to do the work, not just delegate
