Assistant mechanic is an entry-level professional who assists senior technicians with inspecting, maintaining, and repairing diesel and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. They handle basic diagnostics, routine oil and filter changes, brake adjustments, and tool preparation under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in troubleshooting engine, electrical, and brake systems.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance checks.
- Handle, clean, and organize shop tools and equipment.
- Learn repair procedures while working under senior mechanics.
Typical Qualifications
- High school diploma or vocational automotive course completion.
- Basic understanding of hand tools and heavy vehicle parts.
- Eagerness to learn diesel mechanics and safety rules.
- Valid driver's license is often an advantage
