Sales Assistant

Customer Service:

• Greet and welcome customers in a friendly and approachable manner.
• Assist customers in finding products, answering questions, and making informed purchasing decisions.
• Provide expert product knowledge and recommendations based on customer needs.
• Handle customer complaints or concerns and work to resolve them efficiently and professionally.

Sales and Product Promotion:

• Meet or exceed sales targets by actively promoting and upselling products or services.
• Inform customers about current promotions, discounts, and loyalty programs.
• Actively engage customers on the sales floor to increase purchases, offer alternatives, or suggest add-ons.

Cash Register Operations:

• Operate cash registers and process transactions accurately, including cash, credit card, and digital payments.
• Handle returns, exchanges, and refunds in line with company policies.
• Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and balanced.

Merchandising and Store Presentation:

• Assist with the organization and arrangement of product displays to ensure the store is visually appealing.
• Replenish stock on the sales floor and ensure products are well-stocked and in proper condition.
• Help with setting up seasonal or promotional displays and ensure they are aligned with store standards.

Inventory Management:

• Assist with stock replenishment, inventory checks, and restocking shelves.
• Monitor inventory levels and inform management when stock is low or products need to be reordered.
• Participate in periodic inventory audits or stocktakes.

Store Maintenance:

• Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including aisles, fitting rooms, and restrooms.
• Ensure product tags are visible and pricing is accurate.
• Ensure that the store is free of hazards and maintain safety standards for both customers and staff.

Team Collaboration:

• Work with team members and management to ensure the smooth operation of the store.
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve sales goals and ensure excellent customer service.

Product Knowledge:

• Continuously learn about new products, features, and promotions to better assist customers.
• Stay updated on company policies, product changes, and store procedures.

• Minimum Education: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is usually required.
• Further Education: Some employers may prefer candidates with additional education, such as courses or certifications in business, marketing, or retail.

Experience:

• Previous Experience: Prior experience in retail, customer service, or sales is preferred but not always required for entry-level positions. Experience in similar roles (e.g., cashier, customer service representative) is beneficial.
• Experience with POS Systems: Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems or cash register operation is often helpful.
