Job Title: Mid-Level Back-End Web Developer

Work Set-up: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week) 

Location: Chino Roces, Makati City

Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Mid-Level Back-End Web Developer to join our internal engineering team. In this role, you will move beyond basic CRUD operations to design and implement complex server-side logic and sophisticated database architectures. You will be a key contributor to our core systems, responsible for ensuring that our applications are secure, performant, and highly scalable.

The ideal candidate is a PHP/Laravel specialist who understands the "why" behind the code. You will take ownership of the back-end ecosystem, from API design to server-side optimization, and play a critical role in mentoring junior developers to maintain high standards of code quality and system reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Architecture: Design and develop scalable, maintainable server-side logic using PHP 8.x and the Laravel framework (utilizing advanced features like Service Providers, Jobs, and Custom Middlewares).
• Advanced Database Management: Architect complex database schemas in MariaDB/MySQL . Perform advanced query optimization, indexing, and normalization to handle high-volume data traffic.
• API Leadership: Design and implement secure, versioned RESTful APIs that serve as the backbone for our web and mobile interfaces.
• Search & Cache Optimization: Manage and optimize search engines like Elasticsearch and caching layers like Redis to ensure lightning-fast data retrieval and reduced server load.
• System Integration: Implement third-party integrations (Payment Gateways, OAuth, SMS/Email services) and manage webhooks effectively.
• Security & Compliance: Implement advanced security protocols, including JWT/Sanctum authentication, data encryption, and protection against common vulnerabilities (SQL Injection, XSS, CSRF).
• DevOps & Deployment: Assist in managing CI/CD pipelines and server environments (e.g., Forge, Vapor, or Dockerized environments) to ensure smooth deployments.
• Code Stewardship: Lead code reviews and enforce strict coding standards (PSR) to ensure the long-term health of the codebase.
• Testing Excellence: Knowledge on implementing automated testing suites using PHPUnit or Pest to ensure high code coverage and prevent regressions.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: * 3 years+ of professional back-end development experience.
• Proven track record of building and deploying production-grade Laravel applications.

Technical Skills (Required):

• Expert PHP/Laravel: Deep understanding of the Laravel ecosystem (Eloquent, Blade, Queues, Events, Notifications).
• Database Mastery: Strong proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write complex joins and optimize slow-performing queries.
• API Design: Experience building "API-first" applications with proper documentation (e.g., Swagger/OpenAPI).
• Version Control: Advanced Git skills (managing merge conflicts, rebasing, and managing release branches).

Essential Soft Skills:

• Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down complex business logic into efficient technical workflows.
• Ownership: A proactive mindset regarding bug tracking, system monitoring, and performance alerts.
• Collaboration: Ability to provide clear technical requirements to Front-End teams.

Nice-to-Haves (Bonus Skills):

• Experience with other PHP frameworks (e.g., Symfony, CodeIgniter) or other back-end languages (e.g., Python, Node.js).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Understanding of basic front-end concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Infrastructure: Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, RDS) or other cloud providers.
• Modern Back-End: Familiarity with Microservices architecture or Serverless functions.
• Front-End Awareness: Practical knowledge of (Vue.js, Alpine.js, HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Government Experience: Familiarity with government-mandated security standards and data privacy laws (e.g., Data Privacy Act).
